you are asking the wrong questions without providing enough informations even after multiple attempts. Please state your use case clearly, such that can help you. I though I stated my problem quite clearly in the initial post? I'm just wondering if someone found a workaround concerning the side-effects of "exec" on STDIN when using ActiveState perl. Then people got curious about why I needed exec so I tried to answer them the best I could, what's wrong with that exactly?	[reply]
