OMG I just read the front page on your Strawberry Perl link and my (software development) mouth is watering.

If it lives up to its front page hype, I can see why so many of you grow Stawberries rather than live in an Active State.

Normally I dread changing platforms, doing upgrades, etc. I can't recall the last time I was actually excited about the prospect of a change like this.

Hmm. And I have a three-day weekend coming up. Hmmm...

Wow, almost ~~to the~~ exactly one year. Then, I merely entertained the idea of Strawberry, based on all the recommendations. A sort of removal of the negative impetus to not switch. For whatever reason, this thread got me in a mood to actually go look -- and so now it is not merely an absence of negative, but the existence of positive motivators on this front. At this rate, I might be installing it by July 2016!	[reply]

Consider the portable option, you could run Strawberry side bybside with ActiveState for evaluation purposes.	[reply]

Oops, not the external library parts, but Win32::API doesn't use any.	[reply]

You should be able to use them in parallel if you take the "portableZIP" edition. At least if you call your scripts with `perl [switches] scriptname.pl`	[reply] [d/l]
