Distributing non-Perl script in a Perl distribution?

perlancar has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Is anyone doing this? I was wondering if I should just package a related shell script (that gets installed into $PATH) inside a Perl distribution along with Perl modules and other Perl scripts.

See for example, App::Staticperl, which is mostly a shelll script.	[reply]
