in thread Camelcade 0.39 beta released

I have not voted on your node but my suspicion would be that many might suppose that Perl News is not here for release notices of every single version of every piece of software related to Perl. If you peruse the News section you won't find many other such release notices. Does your project not have a homepage somewhere else where this info could be posted instead?

Good luck with your project.

I disagree with that supposition, because more visibility of Perl related projects can only be a good thing, and in this case the release in question is hardly a trivial update.

++ Specifically because you are correct it "is hardly a trivial update." This site is not so busy that we should be discouraging new content.

To those who disagree, the only thing that is really hurting Perl, in my view, compared to other languages is the dearth of applications and the slowly decreasing presence as supported plugin, library, API samples, etc for popular apps and websites. Even though Camelcade has nothing to do with me and I'll never use it, I'd rather see 100 more posts on it than another node on voting+XP or why Perl6 is worse than the Spanish Flu. :P

I can see both sides, on the one hand the news section could have more content, otoh most of us should already have noticed hurrycups project and are a bit fed up.

But in the end, users are free to disable the news section or just ignore him.

I'm in favour of more news, including perlmonger meetings and workshop announcements.

I agree, but posting version release notices in this section is unsustainable. What if the Net-FullAuto-0.99999999999959 guy shows up, or the Dist::Zilla:PluginBundle::Author::BeLikeME crowd? What if someone writes a D::Z plugin to post a notice in this section during distribution release? We already have the CPAN recent uploads feed; it's enough, in my view.

The way forward always starts with a minimal test.

Do you really think that important update to the one of the most popular IDE's perl5 plugin is the same as some minor CPAN module update?

Nope, it doesn't yet. But what is the point of posting announcements of yet unknown product on yet unknown site of this product?
