Anonymonk's post gave me the idea: would it be possible to have the [mod://...] and [cpan://...] shortcuts user configurable? Just like the language used for [wp://...] was or is in the user settings, as says this thread.

Then if either cpan or metacpan were down, one could simply switch to the working one ;-)
