Back in the day, we had to write FORTRAN all in upper case. I just checked. All the keys on my keyboard are still in uppercase!	[reply]

You missed the word "write". We had to write our FORTRAN programs on coding sheets so that the keypunch operators on the IBM 029s could keypunch the cards. Keypunch operators could be cranky.	[reply]

Keypunch operators could be cranky. If the Keypunch machines themselves were cranky, it would've helped their exercise regimen.	[reply]
