Your output is NOT the output here (Win7 Pro 32bit, AS Perl 5.18.4 for x86)... and thus I don't think it's a Windoze line-ending problem; rather, I suspect your copy of 1nickt's suggestion (at Re^3: Substitution in range operator) is somehow inaccurate.
