Todd Chester has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I am using Scientific Linux 7.1, x64, which is a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.1 (RHEL) clone. Perl6 is in Fedora 23, but not in RHEL 7 as of yet. Anyone know of an RPM of Perl 6 for RHEL 7

I don't know of any package for RedHat, but it's very easy to install by following the instructions found here.

I found RPM binaries for Perl6 but for Fedora and it seems they are not binary compatible with your RHEL version.

I really think the best way to install Perl6 on your OS is to follow the URL of u65 or check this page http://rakudo.org/about/.

Try to get github sources with yum.

For Fedora users, check this page: http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3

    Peace

Sounds like a great opportunity to learn how to build the first Perl6 rpm and become an important open source contributor. A package is just an archive of a directory tree where each top level subdirectory has a purpose in the installation process. There's a good tutorial at http://www.rpm.org/max-rpm/
