What are you trying to do?

If you look at https://metacpan.org/pod/LWP::UserAgent#ua-ssl_opts it says ... LWP::Protocol::https ...LWP::Protocol::http...create the sockets, LWP knows about them through LWP::Protocol#class-LWP::Protocol::implementor-scheme-class
