I'd forgotten about that.
I was peripherally involved in a project circa 2002/2003 that tried to make use of it. I don't remember the details, only a lot of swearing about all the stuff that didn't work.
And looking at the last update date on that page you linked, it doesn't look like it saw a lot of love thereafter.
