$params may indeed contain data, but I would want to confirm it contains the right data in the expected structure. Data::Dumper can be used to verify that.

    Yep. First thing I thought was that all of the other params are lower case, so perhaps it's just a typo in the capitalization of First and Last. OP: If you're not already, add use warnings; and use strict;.
