Yes, I agree. It's much quicker to link to an explanation than to re-create it. And aren't we all about code re-use? And linking to a whole thread is always going to be better than writing a single answer - gives lots of different sides of the subject.

But I think one is sometimes inhibited about just posting a link - it seems like not enough effort to earn the all-important XP.

Well I'm here to tell ya, I'm going to vote ++ for any node that contains a useful link, even if it has nothing else in it, and I encourage fellow monks to do likewise. But I do mean useful...
