Yes the test case was real. It was as accurate as I could quickly make it. I could provide actual content but I would have to be careful to remove patient data. As I had mentioned in my initial post the one-line code I provided did work as it successfully matched the "*" characters.

You gave me some good suggestions and pointers, and I am trying a few things. I should get back to you all by Monday at the latest. I also think I found a good app to get a raw dump of the file contents.
