Oops sorry -- I took not displaying correctly as not working to display the character.

I should have said they displayed correctly for me.

Does your browser have a UTF-8 fallback mode?
I'm using Pale Moon, a 64-bit FF derivative that is more like old-FF then current versions are.

"Does your browser have a UTF-8 fallback mode?"

    Yes.

That all of the examples display correctly seems to lend credence to the idea that PM could be UTF-8 friendly if it wanted to be. Sorry if I misread something (again!)... ;-)

Is there some reason why it couldn't be changed?

Is anyone around with the ability to make edits to the website's source? Or do PM caretakers pay attention to discussions here on "PM's Discussion"? *pout* 😡 Or is this not the place to discuss issues about the PM website? *wide-eye*, *puzzled* *look* 😁. Hmmm...yep, I'd say the site can display UTF-8, *except* in code blocks...if that isn't a bug...😁
