after reading some of the more "for entertainment purposes only" best nodes of yore I was inspired to make my attempt going that route. I discovered that either: a) achieving such a lofty node reputation just isn't feasible anymore nowadays, or b) I'm not even as close to as funny and entertaining as I believe myself to be.

FWIW, I love your Posthumous Apologies to Edgar Allen Poe and feel it is as funny and entertaining as I Was a Saint (sung to the tune of "I Will Survive"). BTW, the highest rated Perl poem of all time has 300+ rep: Fish dinner

I noticed when I wrote The Top Ten Perl Poems (rep range: 120-320) and The Top Ten Perl Obfus (rep range: 240-780) that, for whatever reason, obfus, on average, tend to gain higher reps than poems.

The two highest rated nodes of all time, and the only 700+ nodes are:

• camel code (rep:781 with 794 upvotes; Feb 2024 update: rep:795, 808 upvotes)
• How do I recursively process files through directories (rep:760 but with 853!! upvotes, go paco!; Feb 2024 update: rep:778, 873 upvotes)
