Ok, I see, you dont want the windows widgets to resize, you want the windows to be able to overlap each other, without changing the size
see Tk::MDI for an example of the kind of work required to make such a widget, it uses Tk::place
Also see "2. Vertical paned window." in the tk demo program "widget", it might contain hints on doing it simpler
I don't know how to get the behavior you want, using geometry managers is mostly trial and error :)
your best might be to use Tk::Canvas
