in thread [OT] Windows VMs under Linux for running Perl.

Just for curiosity: why do you need or want something like cmd.exe under a Linux distro?

For an upcoming job I need a Linux environment to run the proprietary DB software that generates and stores the data I will be working on; but I infinitely prefer to do development under Windows.

I've tried running Linux in VMs under Windows. It works, but the integration is clunky and the proprietary software comes as bunch of appliances that don't really play well in VMs.

So the better solution is to do my development in a Windows VM hosted on Linux.
