Anonymous Monk has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi
This is a good website. I am doing some brainstorming for me. I am going to start a new job as Perl Developer in a $corp. I like to do my best. I have some experience in Perl. How I can succeed ? I appreciate any tips or links or articles. I like to make a rough sketch for my profile before I start.

Congrats! Read Modern Perl by chromatic and work thru the examples.
Thank yoiu for the book pointer. I am going to read it. What is the difference between that book and "Programming Perl: Unmatched power for text processing and scripting, Edition 4" and Modern Perl? I mean what additional information is there, considering new job?
Well for one thing text processing and scripting is not all you can do with Perl. Modern Perl shows you how to write robust applications that can compete with the other modern languages. Also, it's free. :D
