    Excel (excel.exe) is a separate program and does not know about the "current directory" of Perl.

    You can get the full path of the current directory by using Cwd::getcwd:

    use strict; use Cwd; my $dir = getcwd(); my $excelfile = 'UE_NW_Parameters.xlsx'; my $Book = $Excel->Workbooks->Open($dir."\\".$excelfile) or die Win32::OLE->LastError();
      Hi.. I can open or access the file but can not use the SaveAs to save the new file In the same path by using the above suggestions. Below is the program and Error I am getting :

        Only post a SSCCE. The problem is that OLE::Win32 will not save to a path with forward slashes so you need to convert / to \\ as I showed here.

        #!perl use strict; use warnings; use Win32::OLE; use Cwd; $Win32::OLE::Warn = 3; # get already active Excel application or open new my $Excel = Win32::OLE->GetActiveObject('Excel.Application') || Win32::OLE->new('Excel.Application', 'Quit'); my $dir = getcwd(); my $excelfile = 'Parameters.xlsx'; my $Book = $Excel->Workbooks->Open($dir."\\".$excelfile) or die Win32::OLE->LastError(); # do work $dir =~ s!/!\\!g; $Book->SaveAs($dir."\\".'updated_'.$excelfile); $Book->Close;
        poj

        This is the same problem as you have when opening a file.

        Always use absolute path names when talking to Excel.

    I am getting the below error

    What is the error ?

    If you add print $Excel->{DefaultFilePath}."\n"; then you will see it is probably set to C:\Users\username\Documents.

    Try adding

    use Cwd; my $dir = cwd()."/"; $dir =~ s(/){\\}g;

    poj
      Yup! It;s working now! I was Incorrect path and not using $dir =~ s(/){\\}g; thank you!
