in thread Canonization Without Representation
I am not asking for anything unearned, just for the contemplation (that means serious consideration) of the marginalization going on here of younger monks and what can be done about it.
You are exactly asking for something that is unearned. You are asking for people who earned their place on the Saints list to step down so that you can ascend more quickly. The argument that it's not fair that older monks 'got here first' or 'took all the popular questions' and other similar ones is the exact reason why millennials are stereotyped to be entitled whiners.
Using your logic, I should be able to go to the US Patent office and say "It's not fair that I was too late to the game in all these inventions that I would have thought of anyway, so lets expire the patents for the ones that have been around a while and let the younger folks get some patents." Nobody is marginalizing you. (Well maybe they are now based on your ridiculous claim of being marginalized simply because 'being younger isn't your fault')
If I brought my kids to PM, they'd feel intimidated at first (same as I did) but quickly learn that this is an assload of very useful information (sometimes by people who literally 'wrote the book' on some facets of perl) and they would respect that knowledge, because they've been taught to respect that which should be respected. They wouldn't sit here and whine about how they are having trouble asking questions and earning XP so they can make some stupid (no offense PM, but in the grand scheme of things, it's not important) list. Hell, if they could get all of their questions answered without having to ask one, it would reinforce their belief that this is an awesome site made by awesome people with awesome contributors.
Honestly I don't expect you to change your mind, and frankly I don't care whether you do or not. I do find it hilariously ironic that most of your posts have been downvoted, likely costing you XP that you apparently so greatly cherish.
That being said, good luck, and I hope you find a way to contribute to the site to reach your XP/Saints list goals. If you do, you'll be a better programmer, and the site will be better off with more useful information.
