Suddenly many things become clear. It is not he but they who are registering all these user names and asking the same questions over and over again.

As is often the case, answers engender more questions. Despite being in a very small school (from the link: thirty-nine students, two teachers, one classroom, four blackboards, no computers — which I take to mean that each student has his or her own laptop), they seem not to share info among themselves. Is this an indication of dedication to individual effort or of unwillingness to cooperate with and support their fellow students?

Linking the multiple user IDs (plus anonymous postings) is fairly sensible in this case, given the copy/paste crowd sourced code throughout the threads, and one user ID responding to a reply to one of the other clones. However linking one of the user IDs to a single match (name of a school) of a web search seems less wise to me.	[reply]

I agree that given: the similarity of all the questions despite the search and replace attempts to trivially change the variable names in order to generate the appearance of a new question; that it is pretty clear this represents a single person. I would also expect much more dissimilarity in the English usage if this were more than one poster. In providing the link to the school based on the newest nickname i was not trying to imply that there was more than one shapeshifter, instead i found the use of the name of a tiny isolated school as the newest nickname to imply they might have once been a student there once	[reply]

Or perhaps it represents attempts on the part of several students to frustrate the efforts of Teacher to simply Google the original variable names and initial data and thereby track down cheaters. I would also expect much more dissimilarity in the English usage if this were more than one poster. This could also have an alternate explanation. The poster or posters are obviously using English as a second language. Multiple students, if such they be, may simply have learned the language from a common source and so have a common voice. Inexperience with English may further mask individual differences. I suppose a thoroughgoing textual analysis of all the posts in question might discriminate between one or many voices, but I don't have the fortitude to hurl myself down that particular rabbit hole. Alas, while all these alternatives are suggestive, I find none, even my own suggestions, conclusive. We are in the fortunate position of being able to continue to speculate endlessly...
