Re^7: Why my Regex doesn't work

Generally, you'd need

   pos($_) -= length($&) - 1;
[download]

instead of subtracting 1, because the overlap could be longer. Tested with

$_ = "AAAABAAAA";
while (/AAA/g) { ...
[download]
