Anonymous Monk has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Okay, this is gonna be an easy one, but i don't manage to find it out in any man/FAQ/googleresult so here it is: how do i get the ID of the running perl process ??? I found getppid, great, but i just don't care of my father. I neither care of my group or anything.. WHO AM I ??? Thanks.

    $$ holds the PID of the process

    Hello, I am $$. Please use me, abuse me, and if you use English, you can even call me $PID ... just don't call me homework, for i am not your finite state machine.
    The requirements change because they don't know what they want, or how much they own you.
