    That was obvious. OTOH, Schopenhauer probably meant more the appraisal (I hope that's the correct word) of one's perceptions, whereas your target (and mine when quoting him) was more the "perception" part.

      Sure. On a related note, an artist I’m fond of—Patrick Woodroffe—once remarked he never worked from photos or models because he found it much more interesting to draw and paint what he remembered than what actually was.
