gsd4me has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

All Using Spreadsheet::Read to retrieve data from a spreadsheet (of varying formats - and it is a wonderful way of doing things) I need to place data BACK into the spreadsheet Can this be done via this package? I haven't seen any comments about writing/updating/saving data to the file and was wondering whether you can delete/insert worksheets, cells or formats as a variant of what has been read If not via this package, is there a method/package to do so? regards ADB

    G'day gsd4me,

To the best of my knowledge, Spreadsheet::Read is only for reading. I see nothing in the documentation to indicate otherwise. The module author is a frequent visitor to the Monastery (as Tux): he may have a better answer.

Searching CPAN for "spreadsheet write" (http://search.cpan.org/search?query=spreadsheet+write&mode=all) produces many results. Have a look through those to find one which best suits your requirements. One thing to note when you're doing this: some are for the *.xls format and some are for *.xlsx.
