I'm sure you will have seen from his github profile that he was active there within the last fortnight and only very sporadically over the last 2 months. So he's probably (hopefully) just very busy with other things and will re-engage in due course.

If you know him well then it might be worth suggesting co-maint on any number of his dists when he is next in a period of full involvement.
