"hehe..." Thank you very much for advice Dr Wisenheimer. BTW, the full story: Some years ago, when i started using Perl i had some success with Tie::File from time to time. It worked as designed - and absolutely reliable. I didn't care much about performance. And i thought: Wow! How cool is this concept. Then i didn't use it for many years. Now some esteemed fellow monks point me to the pros and cons...
