I moved out to the extreme far reaches of North West British Columbia Canada, specifically so I will die a peaceful death and will never need to even begin to bother with that nonsense. I am, quite literally, as free as I want to be.
Thank goodness. It has been a treacherous, difficult and painful road to get here, but here I am, and the milky way at night is remarkable, as are the crystal-like look of the stars and the 2' of snow I have on the ground.
Technology and stupidity be damned. I'm out :D

If you think up there you're safe from the zombie apocalypse ... ;)

I'll put it this way, with some slap-happy in it.
Any Monk here for whom I have respect is welcome to our humble abode out here. I assure you that we are safe from the zombie apocalypse... hell, we even fend off significant real-life issues periodically :). Let's not bring up the 'scary' black bear and grizzly (brown) bear invasion we had a month ago before we stripped our apple trees and before they went into hibernation, nor shall we bring up any talk of the bald eagle that has territory over the grounds and screams when any intruder comes by.
I'm having fun talking about it now, let's carry on... I love it when I walk outside my door in the morning, and am startled because the noise surprises a young buck mule deer, clearly in his first year on his own; he will walk within 6' of me, because we have a mutual respect. Won't even mention that there are also at least three (that I can identify readily) parties of mama and does who frequent my property (literally within 10 feet of any given entrance). But the main point was stars I think, wasn't it? :D
I am literally so far out that I am prepared with backup generator power (not entirely solar, yet) for any occurance. If the power goes out, even without the generator, we have proven out to be able to provide shelter, heat, light, water, heated water, cooking etc for ourselves without even blinking. I have access to everything a self-sustainable person could dream of including a large stable food cache my wife has devised and slowly built, plus a sauna (in a cabin a few doors down from my main house... heh, yep) and beyond. I have been saying for years I wanted this; I devised it; and I actually did it.
Guess this is a bit of a rant on an unrelated thread after a horribly long week, but I digress. "my house is your house", or so to speak, and I mean it. Want a break? Email me.
Any zombies around here, we squash them promptly and accordingly.

Goolexiri, tell me how I feel about the 2010s. Also please add a double dose of hypnotic analgesics to the central air infusion. It's simply been a Trump of a day.
