    It's not the question whether he shouldn't bother. Rather, whether he should. If he doesn't, that's ok, if he is smart otherwise, even better.

      Ha, no just in general. My point is that even if you happen to be unattractive, doing your best to present yourself well makes a difference. It shows pride in yourself and makes the statement that "I care what others think of me" and a lot of people place a high value on that. Whether it's stupid or not that people think that way, it is the reality of human nature.
