Yes, I had considered trying Outlook 2007 to test that, but just hadn't done it, but I've done it now in response to your suggestion, and after sending about 10 messages I noticed that maybe half of them took 30-60 secs to send (at which point they moved to the Sent Items folder), and the others took about a sec or 2. But I'm not sure that means MIME::Lite is the cause (and I know you're not claiming it necessarily means that), because it could be that Outlook notices the problem, then pauses and retries (1 or more times) until it either works or fails too many times, while MIME::Lite just fails as soon as it sees the first error. But I'm just guessing here and I might try a different Perl mail module sometime.
For the reasons I've mentioned above about Vodafone NZ, I doubt they'll be willing to even investigate this issue, and I'm not worried because I can tollerate the failures for this short term requirement. Just wondered if there was an easy fix. | [reply] |
