That's a diferent question from your inicial question. Now that you have a script that can run another detached from the console, how can you lauch it ?

  • Run it from the command line (if its a long lived daemon, er process, it will be a fire and forget :-)
  • use a scheduler command, like an at command on winnt
  • create a batch file and run the perl script that creates the detached process from there
  • use the same technique that you would use to run any other detached program ;^)

    I've done it with an at command and a batch file that does a "d:\apps\perl\bin\perl.exe d:\dev\perl\rundaemon.pl" (rundaemon.pl is the inicial script).

    Or you could put rundaemon.pl calling itself as a detached process. Then you would get recursion 8^)
