So, In YOUR below code, \d can be replaced with \w

my @ips = m/\(([\w\.:]+)[\s<>]*([\w\.:]+)?[\s<>]*([\w\.:]+)?\)/;

\w Matches any letter, digit or underscore. Equivalent to a-zA-Z0-9_
