You can read an older thread on the forum How to Recursively search down thru directories to find a string and display its location. and modify little bit to much your question.
Mainly it is using the File::Find module. Also you can read this tutorial Beginners guide to File::Find sort introduction. It will help you reduce the size of your script and also efficiency.
Update: Or alternatively if you know for example that you are only interested in some files not needed to open all files and check for the string you can read this old thread Capturing and then opening multiple files. For
