As always, I would like to jump in and support Jed. Full syntax higlighting for many languages, built in scripting language, and runs on Win32, unix console and in X Windows.

    I actually prefer jed to emacs, but the perl mode for jed is vastly inferior to cperl-mode for emacs. And I don't have the motivation to hack up my own perl mode for jed.
