Given the rage that the alias for perl6 caused, I'd say don't even think of starting a suggestion to discuss this. It is useless and unneeded and probably ends with many users being angry or disappointed and maybe even people that leave the community.

Perl6 did not need an alias, and neither does perl5.

    ... we definitely need to relax. A fun poll might be just the thing.

    Although of course somebody is bound to not catch the joke. Let's add more funny choices to make this less likely — or less relevant.

    Perl6 did not need an alias, and neither does perl5.

    Both Perl5 and Perl6 needed an alias for Perl6. Perl5 is widely known as "Perl" and does not need to dissociate from itself. Perl5 needs forks like rperl and cperl and webperl.
