<html><body>

A while back I ran into a program for (cringe) Windows that basically generated an HTML page for some network statistics (disk access on server, net speed etc). But the thing that really impressed me was a little tab that was a "map" of the network.

Basically, it was a spider diagram with the server at the centre with all the logged in workstations springing from the various routers/switches/hubs with their various IP addresses. I was quite impressed with this as it gave a nice realtime map of the network and how packets got where they got. So what I was thinking is, is this possible with perl on a win32 system? I originally thought I could do something clever with traceroute but according to the Net::Traceroute readme it won't work on Windows systems...

If anyone has any ideas I would be really greatful :)

Its not necessarily a perl solution, but what you describe sounds to me like EtherApe.... Does this screenshot look like what you're wanting?

I've never seen that before but yes that is the kind of thing that I am looking for. The app that I saw was a commercial product costing about £200, which, needless to say is a little steep. I'll take a look at the source of it though anyway as it seems interesting.
