When I have first read the Perl Monks web site, I was under the impression that it was modelled like a Tibetan monks monastery. Just like Terry Pratchett's novel The Thief of Time that I had read a couple of months before that. So I adopted the name, or rather the nickname of a character of this book, the Sweeper. Actually, although he usually appears with a broom in his hands, this character is a wise man, but with a very unconventional wisdom.

By the way, I am not Jarkko in disguise. I am another Pratchett fan who happens to be also a Perl fan.
