I have to say, I'm with rob on this. Maybe he was a bit forthright, but the basic point is a good'un - if the SiteMeisters want to have a bit of a laugh, then one either laughs with them (which I do - I rather like a search engine with attitude) or lumps it. I thought the original node was ironic, until I read the disclaimer at the end.

But if it'll make you feel any better, just think yourself lucky you don't have an account with National Westminster Bank. When you tell the ATM to give you some money its default wait message is
WE ARE DEALING WITH YOUR REQUEST
Whadderyamean, request? It's my money! I'm not requesting it, I'm telling you to give it to me, buster! The message should be at least
WE ARE COMPLYING WITH YOUR INSTRUCTIONS
... if not
WE ARE OBEYING YOUR ORDERS
So the moral of this story is, in the early twenty-first century, being offended by inanimate objects is the risk one runs. At least if the Perlmonks search engine offends you, you can take comfort in the knowledge you're not paying it to offend you.
