My first crack at some perl poetry, a really short one.
sub it {print join chr(47),qw( screaming sky )}; BEFORE:{it} NOW:{"nothing" cmp it} # A screaming comes across the sky. It has # happened before, but there is nothing to compare # to it now. # -- First sentences of Pynchon, _Gravity's Rainbow_
This is of course, just a preview, as I plan to translate the entire 400,000 word novel sometime soon. <g>

    I think Pynchon would like the concise yet poignant translation. It's very true to the style of his writing for being interpreted into code.
