The Q&A Cleanup Quest has come to an end. Lots of people have found problems. I am still wondering what the best solution is to maintain quality content there. I'm imagining a group of editors for the area... I have some people in mind if you'd like to be one /msg me.

Another question would be ownership.... if all answers below a node were compiled into one "answer node" who would become owner of the node. Let me know what you think below. The goal is to maintain high quality content... and hopefully allowing anyone to share their knowledge.

I would be in favour of questions being submitted by anyone and placed by editors.

Since this will be a moderated forum, the editor should be able to edit the questions submitted. This will probably mean that it will be similar to a question proposed by a user, but may have a different name or be rewritten to be more general; for this reason, I wouldn't bother crediting a question to a particular user as such.

As to who can post answers and who owns them, I would be in favour of allowing anyone to post a reply. I have learned a lot about perl on this site. Some of the best things I have learned on this site have been from extended exchanges between various people.

It is even useful to have wrong answers posted. These are useful because someone else will point out the mistake, which may be quite subtle and easily missed if you are not familar with the topic. Seeing where others have gone wrong and exactly what was wrong with it gives a deeper understanding.

I think that (if the editors are prepared to do it) once a question has been in place for say a week, an editor will create a synopsis of the posts made, which should go in as the first reply. I would make it owned by all the editors as a group if that is possible.

I'd vote for having questions and answers submitted by everyone and placed by editors - I don't think it's a good idea to close off the answering of questions, as there may be a non-editor with a great answer to a submitted question.

It would not be good to close off answers from "lower level" monks. As someone else mentioned, there is no telling who might know the good answer. Peer review seems to be working (for the most part) as I have seen incorrect answers gracefully pointed out and the error corrected in a friendly manner. A group of editors would be a good thing; but do not prevent someone from adding what they know; or learning by having a mistake explained.

Variety is good. Q&A should be another venue where everyone can contribute.

After a set amount of time (a week seems plenty), an editor should "prune" the question and its responses, and further answers should then be subjected to editorial review before posting.

I agree with infoninja. And "answer node" owner.. root perhaps? (I hope I'm not confusing anything about root..). Or just leave the correct answers, with their original owners credited.
