It seems to me users shouldn't have names of functions, modules, etc. eg; grep (Even if they do post well ;-)

Possible solutions include

  • user:// (do you remember everyones id?)
  • allow simple search to parse foo:// protocols
  • fortunately, documentation does take priority over users.

      Aack!!! Mea culpa ... sorta.

grep is actually cbrink, one of my coworkers. He didn't like his nick and, in any event, lost his password and then discovered he couldn't have it emailed because the email he signed up with is no longer available. He was asking me what I thought of different nicks (MrBungle was one, don't ask) and he finally settled on grep. I should have told him to go with his first instincts :( Of course, I don't recall his telling me about his choice of grep until he actually signed up for it. Sigh. I'll be sure to beat him severely for this.

Oh, wait, he's my boss. Never mind :)

Ovid idly wonders if grep is going to read this...

      Cheers,
      Ovid

See, my point exactly, you (as any monk would) did [grep] to link to his node, but that link takes you to perldoc -f grep ;-)

OIC, so that would explain how he was able to hit the ground running, kinda (cbrink wasn't around much ;-).

As for Mr. Bungle, no need. A band from SF founded by former Faith No More lead singer. I like Retrovertigo but not much else I've heard.

Ah, but is the band named after the infamous LambdaMOO incident, or the other way around? I assume it's the other way around...

Unfortuately I thought of that after I hit submit :(...
If it does cause a problem I would not object to changing my name.

Not that I want to try it out, for fear of messing things up, but I *think* that if somebody created a user with the name "Meditations", then if you searched for this section, you'd get "multiple nodes were drunk", which would not be a Good Thing (t.m.) - though neither wd it be The End Of The World (pats pending).

      § George Sherston
Odd, what conditions bring that message about. A grep doesn't cause that for documentation. Perhaps only for "core" PM nodes?

        perl -pe "s/\b;([st])/'\1/mg"

"danger" brings fourth the "multiple nodes were drunk" message...

And then of course you have 2501 which is (just luckily) 2501...
