in reply to What a shameless attempt to win XP!!

Well, I'm the troll-provoker.

I must have done something wrong to have provoked two reaped abusive replies (out of only three direct replies so far.) I'm still a bit confused, but I think it's partly because I posted a long node without using <readmore> tags. That's fixed now, I hope.

I'm pretty new here, and just starting to find my way around. If I'm doing something wrong, I'd like to know about it so that I can stop doing it. Obviously I'd prefer not to get anonymously flamed, but I don't think I need to say that ;-)

For the most part I've felt very welcome here - many thanks.

Everyone is welcome here but like 1984 Animal Farm some are more welcome than others. The best thing about this place as opposed to other online forums is that the XP system encourages certain standards of community behaviour. Better still those standards represent the common consensus of the user base. Kind of like utopia was supposed to be....

      Hi tachyon,

but like 1984 some are more welcome than others.

Sorry if this sounds pedantic, but I'm sure you mean 'Animal Farm', not '1984' :-)

cheers, and seasonal greetings to all

Oops right George Orwell wrong book :-( Understand what I mean but ignore what I say!

Pedantic is a key feature of the programmer. Computers just don't cope well with raw fuzzy logic.

        cheers
