Fellow Monks,
following a short discussion in CB I write this node probably as the last productive thing this year :-) I did a Super Search on this but didn't find anything (probably only due to wrong search terms, there must have been a similar discussion already, er?)

Today I (like others) reached a new level. I was eagerly awaiting it for several days and it just happened. I'd consider it cool if there would be a Congratulation You Are Now a LevelTitleHere-page when you log in the next time after you reached a new level. This screen could point you to the nodes describing your new powers (if there are some) or could show a (more or less) random very cool node, or some new nodes (since the last level reaching) which might be important within the system or other useful things...

Furthermore I'd think we could increase the fun factor if there would be this or that goodie for every level. Maybe other monks could think of cool ideas what those could be. It need not be useful, maybe just funny. I for example would like the power to paint mustaches on the pictures of other monks - but of course only a true saint would be worthy for this power *grin*.
Well, yeah you get the point, I think.

What do you think?
And what has been thought before (translates to: what nodes discussing this have I overlooked)?

    Yes, there have been posts in the past that request new levels, and I was in agreement that we need them at one point in time. Now that i am level 10, I can say that I really see no need trying to gain another level.

    If you been around here long enough to make saint, you should be addicted enough to not even care about new levels. If you have to look forward to new levels, then you obviously care more about XP then helping others and learning new things for yourself (not that i am accusing you or anyone else of this). Besides, who says you can't declare youself a Double-Saint at 6000XP! ;)

      That's exactly why I tried to point out that it's just for the Fun Factor. It's almost too late for me anyway unless I start a new career :-)

    It's a shame that most of the replies so far seem to be in response to the title rather than the content of the node. There have been many discussions in the past about creating additional levels above saint, but that's not what stefan_k is suggesting!

    Let's go back and read stefan_k's node again... He's actually suggesting adding new features to the existing levels. First, when you advance a level, you would get a page congratulating you on reaching a new level, with links to your new level powers (if any) and other useful nodes. The other suggestion is to add some fun, but not necessarily useful, level powers, just to make the Monastery more fun.

    I think the first suggestion is definitely a good idea. Besides rewarding someone for their participation in the site, it would also highlight useful information such as level powers, which is often difficult to find. The second suggestion sounds fun, but might require a lot of effort. :)

    I know you're right but I always thought it was kinda neat that the only thing that happens is that you're "togo" number suddenly shoots up higher than its ever been before. -- Sorta like it is in what I understand they refer to as "real life".
