All the <textarea>s on Perlmonks are 60x10. I have odd line wrapping, feel cramped and end up editing my posts in vim. What are the chances of making the textarea size configurable in User Settings?

This is so shallow compared to discussing the experience system or YAS but it would be lovely.

    I don't mind the size of the textarea, but I have another problem with them when I use Opera.

    I'm using Opera 5 on Linux, and it inserts extra carriage returns in text areas. It's not a major problem if I post a pure HTML node because it doesn't render any differently, but it causes blank lines to appear when I post <CODE>. And every time I update a node, or submit after a preview it adds extra carriage returns making code posts unreadable, so I have to go back in and delete them all.

    This could be fixed by adding one of these to the PM code...

    $textarea =~ s/\r//g; #or $textarea =~ s[\r\n][\n]g;

    note: You can see what I mean by viewing source. I don't know if pmdev have access to the code that I am talking about, so I'm happy to live with this. But also, maybe this Opera 6 handles this differently.

    I agree. 80 columns would be nice ...
