RE: List All Monks by Rank

XP != learned. Also, there may be many very learned perl users who have just registered on perl monks yesterday, or the day before. As far as people who are both learned and long-time monks, just go to the Saints page. It ranks by number of writeups, and from that page you are two clicks away from accessing those writeups.

    Hope this helps.

Ah, but lots of posts also != learned. If someone asked 400 questions, s/he'd end up near the top of the list. ...I think the best way to see who knows what s/he's saying is to just lurk and read.

Or something in a similar vein would be to divide a monks XP by the # of
writeups so we can get an idea (albeit a skewed one) of the average
    score for their piece:

    Chromatic4.25
    btrott4.31
    vroom3368.10
    And so on

Dividing XP by # of writeups would be too inaccurate, since XP is gained not only when one posts, but also for regular logging in, voting, and getting voted for. See Voting/Experience System
Only if I get an 'opt out' button - there are comments I make that I do not want to be considered for XP, such as when I am trying to clarify my answer or my questions. There are also a few times when I am just having fun in response to a survey and I would hate to think those would have an undesirable affect on my rating.

      Mik

That would be fair I suppose. I don't know. It was just an idea... :)
