Experienced 'old school' programmer - has had exposure to many legacy languages and operating systems. Known VMS head.
Has also exposure to business applications in the following areas: Finance, banking, stock exchange, retail, manufacturing, stock control, health care, publishing.
Pet hates:
- M$oft's philosophy - dumbing everything down for the lowest common denominator user.
- Unix hackers' arrogance - e.g. writing code that makes assumptions about file name syntax. "It works alright for me on my linux box..."
- Buzzword bores - mostly in the form of recruitment agents, but sometimes appearing as colleagues, trying unsuccessfully to convince me that Perl is yesterday's technology.
