Web Page links

Anonymous Monk has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Is there a way in Perl to check if my 60 web links are working on my one web page.


All my links are http links such as:

<A HREF="http://weblinks/etc.html">
<A HREF="http://111.11.111.111/links/another.html">
[download]

I need to find out if the links are working and if they are not working then give me a message saying the link is not working. If possible I need it to do the check automatically once a day.

This is a common request, i recommend starting off by reading merlyn's column for finding bad links. This is old code, be sure and read his next two improvements at col 14 and col 27.
