katzuma has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

i was wondering if there's a way (short for 'module') for accessing audio data stream (wav, aiff, even Mp3) understanding what's going on.. That is analyzing the stream i want to catch 'blank parts' but also i'd like to implement a sort of spectrum analyzer.... Maybe the 'hardware/interface' part of my problem is 100% platform -dependent but i was thinking more about the algorithms to de-code stream in useful infos.. thanks a lot to all the wise and patient people making this the place for perl freaks. katzuma

a quick search at cpan reveals a great deal of modules...
