Quick note to point out that if the new showhints is getting on your nerves you can turn it off in your user settings.

Comments regarding it should go here or in New Hints....

Gotta go.. See ya all on monday,

I agree with dws when he states that the new hints look like a sig when reading a post. There needs to be more visual separation between the post(s) in a category and the posting hints. No such visual separation needs to be between the posting hints and the actual posting form.

I do understand that the hints can be disabled if you find them annoying. However, when the hints are present, there yet remains a visual style issue regarding the block association of what the hints are referring to -- particularly in cases where the posting form happens to be below the bottom of the browser window.

BTW, when posting replies to replies, the hints do not even appear. Is this a feature?

Yes. The layout of PM is not quite as consistent as it might be. ;-) I didnt realize this at the time I wrote the patch. I think ar0n and tye have at least partially resolved this with an HR tag for now.

Not in the slightest. Its another side effect of the inconsistent layout of the site. Hopefully over time things will get more and more consistent and ultimately showhints will be available wherever you can enter a node. But dont hold your breath for now.. :-)
