You know, I don't think posting as an AM is really smart for such a rant. It means the post is not even important enough for you to take a stand and sign it. Really, a signed post would have carried much more weight.

BTW, I suppose you posted as an AM thinking it might save you some XP's if people react baddly. I ++'ed the node when I saw its rep was negative and many monks spend votes on nodes they don't think deserve the Worst Nodes list. Especially when those nodes are signed...

That said I think that redundant posts are inevitable on a system like PerlMonks. Its part of what defines the site actually: a mixture of live dialog and archived knowledge. Throw in the 'xp-bonus' for the first answer and there is no way people are going to check if anyone has posted an answer before them. In any case there are race conditions here that can't be solved ;--)

And while we are ranting... are you really complaining that 'ppl' are sloppy? ;--)
